'F1' movie takes victory lap, returns to Washington state IMAX theaters

"F1 The Movie" was already actor Brad Pitt's highest-grossing film, bringing in more than $558 million at the global box office and surpassing "World War Z's" worldwide total of $532 million, according to industry website The Numbers.

Now, "F1" is returning to IMAX screens in Washington state and across the country starting today, Aug. 8.

"Audiences around the world have embraced 'F1 The Movie' as an adrenaline-pumping big screen experience, and its rerelease in IMAX is a testament to the global popularity of the film," Matt Dentler, head of features at Apple Original Films, said in a news release.

The racing film is also the highest-grossing Hollywood feature in IMAX this year, with $85 million at the worldwide box office, the release said.
